David Morgan
BSc(Hons) FIAP
David served 13 years in the Royal Corps of Signals; this was where programming first took his interest. However on leaving the Army he graduated in Politics and Modern History. It was when he went to work for a large engineering consultancy that his computing skills began to be valuable. Projects were often overseas in developing countries, and he might find he was the only person with any IT skills. More recently David has moved into a UK-based development environment as a contractor working mainly in Project Management. He joined the Institution, as a Fellow, in January, 1991 and joined the Council in 1997.
Paul Lynham
MSc PGCE FIAP
Paul started programming in 1976 in the sixth form at school, learning CESIL and FORTRAN. The programming sheets had to be sent to a local computer centre; the results came back with punched cards! He taught IT in local colleges and the Open University for many years and currently is a freelance software developer. Paul has produced software for varied sectors including medicine, education, agriculture, defence and telecoms. One of his interests lies in techniques to produce robust software that meet customer expectations. He has been a Fellow of the Institution since 1994, and joined the Council in 1997, becoming Vice President in 2008.
John Weller
BSc(Hons) FIAP
During 32 years as a navigator in the RAF, John worked on the design and development of the Tornado flight simulator and testing the weapon aiming software of the Tornado GRI. After leaving the Service he became a contractor for 6 years in the Life and Pensions industry, and in Banking in the City. He then spent 2 years as IT Director of a direct marketing company before returning to freelance work. Though he talks of retiring, John continues to teach at a local college. A Fellow of the Institution since 1993, John joined the Council in 1999.
Peter Ashby
MB BS DRCOG FIAP(Cmpn)
Peter qualified at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School in 1960, and worked in the NHS until 2007. From 1966, as a principal in Primary Care in London, he started writing his own medical records system, as no programmes existed at that time for use by family doctors. This developed into a leading role with the Local Heath Authority and the spread of IT in Primary Care locally. Though now retired from full time medical practice Peter remains active in this area. He became a Companion of the IAP in 1987.
Gilbert Edlin
FIAP
Gilbert began his career as a telephone engineer for BT. In 1989 he moved to the BBC where he was responsible for a network of 200 PCs. He also worked on the evolution of advanced computer hardware, over the years becoming increasingly involved with the software side. He now works for the Gartner Group and has recently moved to Belfast. Gilbert studied with Computeach and is an active member of the CIL Old Students. He became a Member of the IAP in 1994, a Fellow in 1999, and joined the Council in 2000.
John Ellis
FIAP
John began his career more than 25 years ago as a computer operator. Studying in his spare time he quickly progressed to programming, initially in the private sector. Then in 1987 John moved to local government and spent 9 years there before moving on again into Insurance. He now works in the financial sector, designing and writing software for ISAs, Savings Bonds and Child Trust Funds. Married with 4 children, John maintains an active interest in new technologies and writes occasional IT-related articles. A Fellow since 1992, he joined the IAP Council in 2001.
Edwin Keen
BEng MSc FIAP MIBPR
Edwin is one of the earliest Fellows still in the Institution, having joined in 1983. He has worked on instrumentation (medical and scientific), and financial and commercial software, as programmer, analyst, team leader and IT manager. He has been employed permanently, through agencies and on direct contracts, "in plush offices, baking portacabins, and down the leg of an oil rig"! Edwin feels very strongly that there is a bright future for the Institution if it can only fulfil its potential. Fortunately, in 1995, he joined the Council.
Siddique Khan
MIAP MBCS MACM
An Indian by birth, Siddique started his professional career as an analyst/programmer in 1991. Several moves in his professional career took him from India to the Middle-East and eventually to Europe. Siddique has been involved in various roles from Senior Systems Analyst to Technical Consultant and Senior Team Leader. He is currently working in Britain as Principal Technical Consultant for Knowledge Management & Collaboration at BluBaker Ltd. Siddique joined the Institution at the beginning of 2002 and became a member of the Council in 2004. He frequently travels in and around Europe on assignments.
Selva Naidu
MSc DIC LLM LLB(Hons) MBA ACIArb FIAP MBCS
Selva is a Singaporean living in the UK since 1989. He trained and worked as a programmer and holds a MSc (Computing Science) from Imperial College. He diversified into the law, specialising in IT Law. He is admitted as a solicitor in several jurisdictions. He was a solicitor in private practice before exploring Global Risk Management Consulting with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Business Process Outsourcing with Liberata plc. He is currently back in the law as the General Counsel of Alexander Mann Solutions. Selva became a Fellow of the Institution in 1992, and joined the Council in 1995. The IAP's free legal advice service and professional indemnity scheme owes its existence to him. Selva is also Vice President of the Singapore Business Group.
Ian Walker
FIAP
Ian’s first experience of IT came in 1975 when, as a schoolboy, he was offered day release courses in either Bricklaying, Plumbing or Computer Programming. Neither Bricklaying nor Plumbing seemed like a "day off school" and thus he found a vocation. Having worked in the IT Profession within the railway, civil engineering and construction sectors, today he runs his own IT Consultancy in North Wales dealing with a wide range of issues for SME clients that include IT security. Disabled due to a car crash in 1991, Ian is a wheelchair user.
